Bangladesh Cyclone News Update
While
the Pueblo West High School Cyclones are making news
in the world of high school athletics, half a world away in Bangladesh
thousands have died as a result of the powerful Tropical Cyclone Sidr.
Not only have thousands lost their lives, but many of the survivors are
at risk lacking shelter, food and water. Lack of food and clean water
may lead to widespread disease and starvation. Relief works report that
nearly 4 million people are affected, and about 1 million homes are destroyed
or heavily damaged.
PWHS Responds
Pueblo West High School students are committed to helping out and are working to raise awareness of the tragedy, while raising funds for relief organizations. Students, families, and members of the community are encouraged to help in any way they can. Donations to the local chapter of the American Red Cross were accepted at Pueblo West High School during the week of November 26-30. You may also donate directly to the relief agencies listed below. As you celebrate Thanksgiving and a record football season, thank you for also taking a moment to reach out to those less fortunate.
What can you do?
Even though you may never have the opportunity to travel to Bangladesh, you can make a difference by giving to any one of several relief agencies that are working to alleviate the human suffering. Below are links to websites where you can give.

"I am Kazi Azimul Hoque from Bangladesh. I was born at Comilla in Bangladesh. I am here at CSU-Pueblo as an international MBA student in the Hasan School of Business. I am grateful to all the Pueblo West high school students here who take initiative for doing something for cyclone-hit people in Bangladesh. I strongly believe that this kind initiative makes people back home in my country thankful and grateful to those who are doing something for them, although they live half a globe away from USA."
